"I vote no to nuclear. I vote Green."
The Regina Douglas Park and Saskatoon Riversdale by-elections have been called for September 21st, three weeks earlier than previously expected to ensure they are completed before a possible fall federal election. The Green Party of Saskatchewan was well prepared for the drop of the writ, with excellent candidates nominated and ready to go in both ridings: Victor Becker Lau in Regina Douglas Park and Tobi-Dawne Smith in Saskatoon Riversdale. Both candidates are advocating for a Guaranteed Liveable Income. If the current Government of Saskatchewan can propose spending billions on nuclear, then certainly we can afford to eliminate poverty in our province - and for a MUCH lower cost.
With the release of Dan Perrin's report on the UDP public consultations delayed until September 14th (and the public release expected a few weeks following that date), this is the perfect time for voters in Regina Douglas Park and Saskatoon Riversdale to deliver a loud message to the Government of Saskatchewan: "I vote no to nuclear. I vote Green."
We need Green MLAs in government now! It's time to make it happen.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Donate!
$5, 10, $25, $500.... Every bit counts!
To elect our first Green MLAs, we need to raise significant financial resources urgently!
With your donation, we can reach every voter through flyer drops, canvassing, and promotional materials, and purchase lawn signs. In addition to reusable generic Green Party lawn signs, our aim is to offer lawn signs that deliver a "Nuclear is NOT my Choice" message. If we receive donations for the by-elections quickly enough, we hope to have these lawn signs available to supporters in both ridings by the end of next week.
Volunteer!
We are currently in need of volunteers in Regina and Saskatoon (and surrounding areas) to go canvassing with the candidates or to deliver/put up lawn signs. We are also looking to fill the position of Volunteer Coordinator in both ridings, and we are looking for volunteers who are skilled at fundraising. Additionally, we are in need of volunteers, regardless of location, for the following important tasks that can be done at a distance (e-
mail/internet access required):
Online Social Networking (assisting with facebook, twitter, flicker, etc.)
Blogging
Research (developing briefing notes and talking points for the candidates)
Data Entry
Web design/ web mastering
