Regina, Saskatchewan – The Green Party of Saskatchewan (GPS) says it is time for the provincial government to help injured victims of violent crime. GPS Leader Victor Lau says injured victims of violent crime who were not injured in a motor vehicle accident are ignored by our provincial government. “There is no justice for most victims of violent crime in our province,” says Lau. “The very least that the Sask Party Government could do for these individuals is create a fund that will provide benefits to victims of violent crime.”
Without access to SGI payouts from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, there is little or no help for victims of violent crime in Saskatchewan. Victims can apply for up to $25,000 in funding, but most people don’t know about it, and it is alleged that victims are never told about this funding. The GPS wants a fund that could provide these victims with benefits to cover all expenses related to their ongoing care and support.
